Strike at Faro Airport
Hi again Jane,
We actually got our information from the Portuguese Airport Authority who we have gone back to and are now saying that the immigration staff strike is still planned to take place between the early hours of 18 August and midnight on 24 August (running over the weekend of 18/19th!) And I thought the Spanish Airport Authority were unreliable ... if you want to be on the safe side then the airport's infoline is 289 800 617.
Hope this clarifies the situation.
Linda
Dear Gary,
Please could you confirm what dates the strike is taking place at Faro
airport.
A friend in Portugal is telling me it is planned for this weekend 18th and
19th however your web site states it is the weekend of the 22nd to 24th
which is actually mid week.
Jane
Hi Margaret,
Portuguese authorities are advising that strike action by immigration staff is planned to take place between the early hours of 18 August and midnight on 24 August at Faro Airport.
Although a minimum service will be provided, disruption is expected during this period, particularly over the weekend of 22 - 24 August. As a result of this action, passengers are strongly advised to check in as early as possible to allow extra time for departure formalities to be completed.
Hope it's not too awful!
Linda
Hi Gary
Can you help? We are travelling to Faro on Sunday 19th August and have just heard that there might be a strike at Portugal's airports – can you get me any up date information so that we can prepare if necessary.
Regards
Margaret

It's the staff at ground handling company Groundforce that called the strike, see http://portugalresident.com/portugalresident/showstory.asp?ID=20688
