Types of child seats in hire cars

Hi Helen,

There is no clue anywhere about which car seats Solmar use. The best thing is to ring again and ask for someone who speaks English (the car hire companies employ bi-lingual staff) or email Solmar at reus@solmar.es Sorry can't be of more help.

Linda

Hi Gary
Wonder if you can help. This might sound like a silly question but here
goes!

We are flying into Reus Airport laster this month, travelling with our
18-month child. We've booked a hire car through Solmar (they were
recommended as you can pick the car up straight outside the Arrivals
termninal instead of having to go to a car-park off site). I called Solmar
at Reus Airport the other day to confirm my booking (which is ok) and to ask
what type of car seats they use but unfortuntely, I don't speak Spanish and
the lady who took my call didn't understand me my question.
Do you know if Solmar use a standard make and model of forward facing car
seat or is it pot luck? The reason I was trying to find out is that I know
we will hve to fit it outselves when we arrive and just wondering how easy
this will be? We have an ISOFIX car seat at home.
Many thanks
Helen

Just wanted to warn others. We've just got back from hols in Spain. We hired a car and child seat through Carjet, who used Goldcar to provide for us. We were recommendede them by several friends.

We wer very nervous about teh whole hire car seat thing as you can imagine with 2nd hand, no known history, but what other option is there.

They could provide us with no instruction manual and as we havea MC Tobi over here they all fitted differently to ours. We only had the side bar instructions in pictures to go by and did what we thought was correct. On sunday I saw my frined's car seat fittied in her car and realised we had spent the whole week with it fitted wrongly.

Needless to sat I have complained so that no other family has to go through what we did - i was a nervous wreck, thank goodness nothign happened.

Just a warning to others to try and check out as much as possible about car hire car seats before leaving this country.
