It's worth trying it again as often they change shifts and there is someone there who can speak some English. Your friend will need details of the time and date you lost the glasses with a full description (especially any distinguishing marks) to claim them.

Hi Gary

I left my sunglasses in an xray tray at aiport security in Alicante.

I did phone the lost property, but because of a language/ communication gap, I could not determine if my sunglasses were still there and if in fact they will keep it for me.

My one friend is flying to Alicante the 23rd of Aug, could you give me any advise as what the procedures is in retrieving my sunglasses?
