Bad customer service at Girona Airport

Hi Mary,

Sorry to hear you had such a bad experience at Girona and thanks for taking the time to tell us about it.

Unfortunately at this time of the year the Spanish Airport Authority are stretched to their limits with the number of passengers they handle. I agree this is no excuse for bad customer service, and as I am sure you know (and hope you experienced during your stay here) they are normally very warm and friendly. I can only hope that the unhelpful staff that you came across were temporary ones and that they are gone at the end of the high season!

Hopefully such a frustrating and upsetting end to your holiday hasn't put you off coming back to Spain.

Linda

Hi
Passed through Gerona Airport on Sat 30th June. Could not believe how rude and unhelpful the staff were. There were about ten check-in desks and only four were in use. As we were travelling with Ryan Air and the strict 15Kg bag weight restriction was concerning us ( there were five of us travelling) we decided to ask the "ladies" sitting chatting at the check-in desks which were not in use if we could check the weight of the bags.
I would have understood if for operational reasons of some kind they were unable to allow us weigh the cases. That was not the problem. It was the manner in which we were spoken to. They were all chatting and laughing among themselves and when we approached to enquire they stared at us and one lady said "Madam I am busy and this is not information"
We then went to the coffee bar to get drinks and again the staff were rude and unhelpful. Considering that Spain depends to a large extent on tourism maybe it is time they pulled their socks up and were at least polite to the people who are ultimately paying their wages. Barcelona is a beautiful city but I would never want to go through gerona Airport again.
I myself work in a customer service capacity and would loose my job if I ever spoke to a customer in this manner.
Mary (Ireland)
