Food substances in hand luggage

Hi Karen,

Although is no longer considered a banned substance for hand luggage, I still keep hearing of passengers who are having food products confiscated.Basically they can take back any food items they want as long as they are in the luggage going into the hold.

I am travelling with a large group of students to Europe. We will be arriving through the airport in Madrid. Some of the students would like to bring food items as gifts for their homestay experience. What are the custom restrictions for Madrid, Spain for food items?
