Barcelona to Salou

Hi Pamela,

Afraid there is no direct bus or train to Salou, so if you want to pursue the public transport route you need to either take the bus from the airport to Tarragona bus station and then get a connecting bus to Salou. Alternatively you can take a train or a taxi from Barcelona Airport to Barcelona-Sants station and take a train to Tarragona. In both cases journey time is around two hours (depending on connections).
Our recommendation is the bus, but your decision will crucially depend on the timetable which is rather poor (5 buses a day, departing from a station in between terminals A and B). You can get timetable details at http://www.monbus.cat The price is around €11 one-way. Journey time is 1 hour to the main bus station in Tarragona at Imperial Tarraco square where you can get a connecting bus to Salou. Regarding the train (http://www.renfe.es) there is a railway station in Barcelona airport at the end of a long corridor with a red roof. You should purchase a ticket to Tarragona (price: around €7 one-way). The train depart every half hour to Barcelona-Sants (third stop: 20 minutes).
From there have to take the train to Tarragona by moving to platform 5 (please check). Notice that the last train departs at 21:30 approx. You have to take the Catalunya Express or Regional Express or Regional (regional trains) - not a long-distance train which is far more expensive and slower. Regional trains depart every half an hour or every hour, depending on the time of the day (likely, at H.03 or H.33).
The final destinations may be Tortosa, Mora d'Ebre, Reus, Valencia, Zaragoza. The trip takes one hour almost exactly. In most cases, Tarragona is the fourth stop, but in some cases may be either the third one or the fifth one. You will identify it (provided the sun still shines) because it is the first stop from where you can see the Mediterranean sea.

Barcelona taxis usually one take up to three people but you can get a quote for a private airport transfer (which can accommodate the four of you) at http://www.spanish-airport-guide.com/barcelona-airport-transfers.html and clicking on the Transfer Store icon.

The only other alternative is for you to hire a car and you can get competitive quotes and cost comparisons from a company called Cartrawler at http://www.spanish-airport-guide.com/car-hire-spain.html
Think that's just about exhausted all the options. Good luck with whatever route you choose.

Regards,

Linda
