API and security
Thanks for that information, our passport are 9 years old but still valid.
The Advance Passenger information that is being collected is on the coded strip at the back of your passport (if you have one of the latest ones) and this will be swiped at the airport. There is no standard form which can be completed beforehand because each airline seems to have their own system. Some airlines are mailing their passengers a few days before they travel and collecting the information then. I have written this article which might help http://www.spanish-airport-guide.com/2007/06/api-advance-passenger-information.html and this link contains the latest information on hand luggage http://www.britishairways.com/travel/bagcabin/public/en_gb. They do not mention electrical goods including a hairdryer or hot brush as banned items so you should be able to get it through in the tray.
Have a good trip
Linda

Have read several articles in newspapers on extra information required by tourists now when entering Spain. Is there a form that needs to be filled in, if so, can this be done beforehand to save time at airport or is it that they scan everybody's passports now.
Would be grateful if you could clarify this point for me.
I am also travelling just with hand luggage, can I bring a travel hairdryer and small hot brush in my hand luggage as long as I declare then in the trays when going through customs.
Many thanks for your help.
