API (ADVANCE PASSENGER INFORMATION) - Spanish Airports from 13th June 2007

API (ADVANCE PASSENGER INFORMATION) INTRODUCED FOR TRAVELLERS TO ALL SPANISH AIRPORTS FROM 13TH JUNE, 2007

Following the foiled airline bomb plot at Heathrow last year, European ministers agreed to set up a pan-European system for exchanging passenger information. Travellers to the United States have faced similar demands since early 2005.

Spain is the first EU country to start collecting API (Advance Passenger Information) from incoming travellers, but the practice is expected to be introduced in other member countries within 12 months. All passengers flying on or after 13th June 2007 will be required to provide their airline with specific information including their full name, nationality, date of birth and passport number either through the airline websites, travel agents or at check-in.

This information must be supplied to Spanish customs authorities before anyone boards an aircraft, so check-in will be the last time passengers can provide their details. During the peak periods of July and August travellers may be asked to turn up at airports half an hour earlier than normal. At some airports a third option of providing API via a self-service kiosk may be available, but this method is not guaranteed at all airports.

Airlines including Easyjet and British Airways have set up an online system so that their passengers can provide this information in advance. If you have any questions, contact your airline or travel agent for more information.

Hi,

There are not any Scheduled flights, you may find a charter flight but I think it would be easier to fly to Madrid or Barcelona and change for an Athens flight there.

Good luck

Are there any flights from Girona (Spain) to Marseilles in France or anywhere near?

Hi Paul,

The only place in France you can fly directly to from Gironja is Lille.

To get to Marseilles you need to fly to Madrid with Spanair or Ryanair and then get a connection to Marseilles with Ryanair or Air Nostrum LA Mediterraneo
