Train from Madrid to Alicante

Hello GaryFirst of I wish to commend you on a very helpful site.My query is.We are stopping in the Vervarde1 area of Madrid. We then intend to catch a train to Alicante. The rail site is not the best regarding being user friendly,which station do we need and do we have to book tickets in advance or can we buy them at the station? Thanks Bill (uk)

I am pretty certain that the trains run from Atocha to Alicante BUT I could be wrong.
Your best bet is to call the train company on 0034 902 34 24 02
