Flying from Alicante to Barcelona with Disability

Dear Sir,
I am a belgian wheelchairer who sometimes travels alone.
Do you have some brochure or other info about help/other facilities for disabled people. E.g. guidance from the airport till the airplane.
So, I plan to fly from Alicante to Barcelona, somewhere in September. How and where should I ask for help at the departure in Alicante and the arrival at Barcelona and vice versa.
If you have some other interesting information in this regard, e.g. accessible appartments, bungalows, hotels, transfer to lodgement, accessible public transport, accessible museums and other places of interest and how to get there.... I would be very grateful.

Maybe, there are some special organizations in Spain who help disabled people or tourist to find the most appropriate accommodation and visits during their stay in your country.

Yours faithfully
Annie

Hi Annie

It is very difficult for you to get information on this.

Basically at EVERY SPANISH airport that I ahve been to there is a trolley car and a driver waiting at the airplane to take disabled passengers to the luggage area.

It is down to your airline to make sure that you are given assistance.

Apartments etc i dont have any information on BUT here is the official Tourist Website for Spain, I am sure that someone there can help you...

I hope all goes well with your trip

Good luck

Dear Gary,
thank you for your prompt and clear answerw.

The Tourist Information Sitre of Spain is a good idea. I wil go and surf to there !
I'm thinking of a combination of a week in Calpe (organized by a belgian care organization), followed by some days in Barcelona for some cultural 'luggage', which I would have to arrange all by myself. I don't mind, it's quite a challenge, but if you ask the right questions to the right persons, it should be able I think.
One more question, if i organize this trip to Barcelona privately, to which airport organisation or person (e-mailadress) do I have to inform to get the necessary wheelchair and luggage guidance up to the airplane ?
Thnaks again and maybe till later.
Kind regards

Hi Annie,

At every airport and for every flight (i was even on one last night) there are porters waiting for each flight arrival. The porters drive electric buggys and are happy to help you to and from the plane to the luggage area.

If you really want to be sure then its best to call the Spanish Airport Authority on 0034 902 404 704.

Regards

Gary
