Disabled around Palma Airport

Hi Gary,

I wonder if you can assist. I have made a group booking - flying out of Humberside airport in the UK to Palma. One of my group has a disability/mobility problem which is a concern as you know there could be a long walk at Palma airport.

How do we find out about getting a airport wheelchair just for use whilst we walk to collect our baggage and confirm our car hire arrangements that I have pre-booked ?

I am afraid ThomsonFly.com who I booked flights through, and Air Europa (who's flight it is on the way out) seem to be totally incapable of assisting or providing information and contacts.

Many thanks for your assistance...

Best Regards,

Carl Smaller

Hi Carl

This answer requires faith!!

On every flight I have ever been on within Spain there has been airport staff at the entrance to the plane to help people with disabilities. I was at malaga airport last night and there were 2 buggies waiting outside the door of the plane!

If you have any doubts call the Spanish Airport Authority (who speak English) on 0034 902 404 704

Good luck

Regards

Gary

Hi Gary

We travel to Majorca next Saturday with bmi. I have been warned about the long walk at the airport but a friend mentioned that will a doctors note there is a electric type bubgy to transport disabled passengers. Do you know if this correct and is the note really necessary. I will have my disabled blue badge so would that not be sufficient. All advice is welcome please. Also re API I see on another post that the introduction has now been delayed until September. Is that still the case? Great site by the way. Regards G

HI, on EVERY flight i arrive on in Spain there is an electric buggy waiting to transport older and infirm passengers to the luggage areas. I can't be too sure exactly what happens at Palma but I cant see it would be any different.

The API is a bit hit an miss, Easyjet still take the details thomsonfly don't. It really comes into force in September.
