Bikes on bus and trains at Madrid

dear gary,

my name is jenny, i am from sweden, and am presently planning my trip to spain: i am hoping to bike to santiago de compostela.i will be flying to madrid (with my biek), since i have some friends there, and plan on staying on abit after the camino. i have been trying to figure out how to get from the airport to madrid city with my bike, without much luck. so, i was wondering if you could help me out? is it possible to bike from the airport? or can you take bikes on the metro, or buses? i arrive quite late at night.i would be most grateful of any information you could give me!

best regards,jenny

My Reply...

Hi jenny
I think that it would be fine on the trains, not too sure about the Bus but late at night if the bus is empty I am sure it wouldn't be too much trouble.
Good luck
Regards
Gary

According to http://www.pedalibre.org/bici_metro.htm

You are allowed to bring your bike on the Metro in Madrid on certain days - Saturday, Sundays and Holidays!

Hope this helps - buen camino!
