Madrid Storing Luggage

My daughter is traveling to Spain in June and plans to backpack in Europe for about 3 1/2 weeks before studying in Salamonca for 6 weeks. I was wondering if you had any more information about storing a suitcase at the Madrid airport for the 3 1/2 weeks that she'll be backpacking. Do you think this storage is secure and how expensive would this be. Thank you very much for any information that you can provide me. Barb
