Hand Luggage at Madrid Airport

Dear Gary,
I shall be travelling by Iberia, London to San Jose, Costa Rica, via Madrid next week.
What are the regulations controlling transit liquids in Madrid airport?
I may wish to buy a bottle of Whisky in post-security, duty free, in London to take to Costa Rica, but will I be allowed to transit a bottle as hand luggage (as I shall have no access to my hold luggage)?
Thank you for your help,
Yours,
Alan Logan

You can buy what you want in Duty Free and carry it in Hand Luggage.

Any liquids bought outside of Duty Free have to be packed into suitcase to go in the hold

Regards

Joanne

I travelled back from Mexico Juarez to Jerez via Madrid yesterday and was not allowed through the internal recheck of hand luggage with the duty free I had purchased in Mexico despite it having been sealed in a tamper-proof bag at point of purchase.
I had specifically asked at Mexico airport if I would be allowed to transport the goods to an internal connecting flight in Spain and had been assured that it would be OK to do so. I ended up having to place the goods in my hand luggage and check the whole bag in, paying excess baggage charges to do so. Please be warned! Regards,
Jan
