Money Changing in Madrid

I will need to exchange about $2000 in American Express traveler’s checks when I arrive in Madrid in order to pay my rent in Euros. Someone suggested the American express office at the airport. Is this the best choice and what will they charge me to do this?

There are a couple of banks and quite a few money changing offices at Madrid Airport, companies like Western Union etc.

I would imagine they will all be able to change the cheques for you, its just a question of who offers the best rates etc and that I cannot answer!

There are 2 banks BBV and Cajamar, I would imagine they would be a good bet!
