Flights from Germany to Bilbao for Bayonne in France

To whom it may concern:

My husband and I are going to Bayonne France in Sept 07 and would like to fly from Frankfurt Germany to some where near Bayonne France, could you please advise us where the closest Airport is, thank you.

Lufthansa fly direct from Stuttgart, Dusseldorf & Frankfurt to Bilbao which seems to be the nearest MAIN Spanish airport for you to fly into.

Toulouse & Bordeaux in France are closer BUT I do not know who flies there!
All are a fair way from Bayonne and I would recommend hiring a car to get from whichever airport to Bayonne.
