On Thu Oct 26 15:01 ,

Hi,
I believe I lost my Sony digital Camera with almost all our lovely holiday snaps at Mahon Airport last week. (16th-23rd Oct)
I would love to get the phone number of the lost property dept or an email address please.
Kind regards Andy
MY REPLY

Hi Andy

It must be the time of year, you are the thrid person today wanting lost property info!

The Spanish Airports don't publish their email addresses (odd I know!) BUT here is the direct dial telephone number for lost property at Mahon Airport: 0034 971 157 108.

If you ahve problems getting through then do try the national airports helpline (they speak English!) on 0034 902 404 704.

Getting from Alicante to Madrid

On Thu Oct 26 15:20 , 'Sabine Versteden' sent:

Hello,
On your website I saw you have a lot of information about madrid airport. I was hoping you could answer my question.
I am thinking of visiting my aunt and uncle in Benidorm somewhere around March.
I was surfing the internet for cheap airplane tickets but the cheapest way is to fly to Madrid.
Is it possible to go from Madrid to Alicante or Benidorm using public transportation, train or bus?
Could you recommend a website to me that has more information about this?
Is the train/bus station nearby the airport?
I hope you will be able to answer my questions.
Thank you.
Sabine Versteden.

MY REPLY

Hi Sabine

The train journey would be the best bet and would take around 4 hours and cost €40 each way, www.renfe.es (in english)

Depending on where you are in the UK I would have thought that it would be much much easier to fly direct to Alicante, here is a link to all the airports and airlines that fly to Alicante from the UK

Try ALL of the following, I tend to fly with Spanair or Iberia because they have a great choice of flights. Iberia have also just launched a new "low cost" airline called Clickair.

Disabled Facilities At Murcia Airport

On Sun Oct 22 9:28 , Gardner186@aol.com sent:

Can you give any info on facilities for disabled passengers at Murcia airport. Hope to travel June 2007.
Pam Gardner

MY REPLY

Hi Pam

One area of the site that I would really like to improve is the information on offer to disabled passengers.

The best place for that information at the moment is here at the official Spanish Airport Authority website, you can also call their helpline number 0034 902 404 704 for any detailed information.

I cant comment in any great details about the disabled facilities at Murcia but I know that all the airports have good disabled toilet facilities and I believe that the service they offer from flight doors to luggage area is very similar at each airport.

Here is a link to a story written by a disabled women who travels through Malaga Airport.

If I get any more information I will let you know and it would be great if you could let us know how you got on after your trip so that we can pass your experiences onto other travellers

Baggage Strikes at Spanish Airports

I have copied this off the Ryanair site as most people affected will be travelling with Ryanair!

Baggage Handlers Strike Action - Monday 23rd October

Ryanair have been advised of a 24hr strike action by Spanish baggage handlers on Monday 23rd October 2006 which will affect Ryanair flights operating to and from the following airports:

Seville
Girona
Granada
Jerez

To prevent flight cancellations and to allow flights to and from the above airports to operate, we will NOT be accepting checked baggage on Monday 23rd October 2006 .

We ask that passengers booked to travel on flights to and from these airports on Monday 23rd October 2006, travel with hand baggage ONLY. One item of hand baggage per person, weighing no more than 10kg and with dimensions of less than 55cm x 40cm x 20cm, may be carried into the aircraft cabin. Online check-in should be used for passengers who have not paid to check-in a bag.

All passengers affected by this strike action at Seville, Girona, Granada and Jerez Airports have been sent an email to the email address they provided at the time of their original reservation. This email will detail their flight transfer options.

Getting from Murcia Airport to Benidorm

On Thu Oct 19 18:00 , Johanna sent:

Gary, do you have any suggestions of how best and cheapest way we two could
get from Murcia Airport (arriving at 9pm on the 11.11.06 to Hotel Selimar in
Benedirm - bus or cheap taxi hire? any recommendations? thanks johanna

MY REPLY

Hi Johanna,

If you can drive the cheapest and quickest way to get to and from the airport and Benidrom is to drive, its a long way by public transport (135KMS - 90 MILES) with not much choice on offer at that time of day!

Map and driving directions

I have just checked and to hire a car for 1 week in November is around €100 (70 pounds!)

Check car hire prices here

For public transport you need to get the bus from Murcia Airport to Murcia City (50kms): this is what we have written on our site:

By coach

A special coach service, latbus number 73, operates between San Javier airport and the bus station in Murcia. Departure times from the airport to Murcia: 17.15, 20.15, and 21.30. Departure times from Murcia to San Javier airport: 18.05, 21.05, and 22.20. This journey costs approximately 7 EUR.

Then you need to get the bus or the train from Murcia to Benidorm.

The buses leave quite regulary BUT you will miss the 2200 bus and need to wait for the 0200 bus that gets into Benidorm at 0400. the costs are €7.62 for a single trip. All information and timetables in English here at www.alsa.es

There are trains between Murcia and Alicante then you would need to get a bus or taxi from Alicante to Benidorm BUT I cant find a train that leaves at that time of night! You could call the train comapny who have english speaking staff on 0034 902 24 34 02 and see what your options are.

A taxi would be about €150 each way! You could organise a PRIVATE transfers and be meet in the arrivals hall by your own driver, this is being quoted at €141 each way. For more information on this click here.

You could also ask the question on the following forum where someone may know a better way: http://www.holidaytruths.co.uk/viewforum.php?f=5

I hope all goes well and if you could remember to let us know which option you took, how it went and what you would do next time that would be great. We are sure to get this question again and it would be good for other people to read about your travelling.

Barcelona from Girona or Reus?

Hi Gary I am trying to decide whether or not to fly into Barcelona on Ryan Air via Reus or Girona airports. Which airport is closer and more convieinet and cheaper
I would like a bus option and please the bus website. I will be arrving in the daytime.

Thanks,
Les

My Reply

Hi Les,

Theres hardly anything in it, both are about 90kms from Barcelona.

The only real difference is that Girona is far far busier and therefore probably a little easier to get to and from by bus.

You can find out how to get between the two here...

Reus to Barcelona by train

Reus to Barcelona by bus

Girona to Bracelona by bus and train

Good luck and I hope that this helps

Buses from Arrecife Airport to San Juan

On Fri Oct 13 12:58 , 'sam watson' sent:

Hi Gary!! How are you doing?
My name is sam watson, and i arrive in
San Juan, lanzarote, on the 14th of october, at around 5pm. It is just me travelling, and i was wondering which bus I can catch once I land at the airport, to get as close a possible to la santa in san juan.
Do you know which bus i will need to catch and also,
where is the cheapest accommodation for one person for one night?
Thankyou very much for your time,
it is greatly appreciated,
Sam.

MY REPLY

Hi Sam

I believe that you should catch the bus from the airport into Arrecife itself, then catch the no 16 to La Santa.

Here is a link to the bus routes from Arrecife

However, I am not an expert on the buses on Lanzarote and you may well get a much better answer on the following forum

Taxis Arrecife Airport to Playa Blanca

On Fri Oct 13 13:48 , 'David L Davies' sent:

Gary
Your site quotes taxi fare from Arrecife Airport to Playa Blanca as 30 Euros.
Can you please confirm that is correct as all other sites on Google seem to be double that, at least for private transfers.
Thank you.
D L Davies

MY REPLY

Hi David

The distance from the airport to Playa Blanca is about 30kms (see map)

I haven't taken a taxi for this route so I use my rule of thumb for MOST Spanish taxi journeys which is 1€ per km.

There may be an extra charge for a trip from and to the airport of a couple of euros.

The private transfers will nearly always cost more because of the need to park and wait for clients etc.

You could also find (or ask) some helpful advice on the following forum:

http://www.holidaytruths.co.uk/viewforum.php?f=20

It would be great to hear from you after your holiday to find out which option you took and how much it cost, we could then give other people a much clearer idea of the costs involved.

Long Term Parking at Seville Airport

On Thu Oct 12 9:03 , Ruth Townsend sent:

Hola!
Really useful site!
From next autumn we will be in full retirement and migrating between mainland / rest of Europe in the summer and our winter home in Fuerteventura. We have looked at shipping our van and decided that it would be better to park it long-term at Malaga or (preferably) Sevilla and fly over from there. We would be leaving it for up to 4 months.
We know there are cheap parking options at Malaga but can't find them on the web to price it; and it seems there is nothing near Sevilla. Any ideas?
Thanks
Ruth and Bob

MY REPLY

Hi Guys

At the moment there is not anything like long term parking at Seville Airport, apart from parking in a street and getting a taxi into the airport, but this doesn't sound like a great solution....

Having said that the daily rates are not as high as in the UK and you will pay €6.95 per day to leave your car in the long term car park.. (best to call and check before you go there)

At the moment and whilst all the construction work is going on at Malaga Airport the long term parking in P3 is free!

Normally long term parking in one of the specialist long term car parks on the industrial estate is between €2.50 and €3.50 per day

Hope all goes well with the move!

Flights from Madrid to Seville

I will be flying into Madrid next month. If I have questions when I get there, is there information booths with people who speak English? Also I fly out on the same day to Seville I heard that they don't post the gate until a half an hour before departure, is this true? I should be flying to Seville on Iberia Airlines is there a certain terminal that they are located in? Thanks for your help.

Angie

MY REPLY

Hi Angie

There will be plenty of people that speak English to help you, from memory all the signs are in English and Spanish!

I am 99% sure that you will be flying to Seville from Termianl T4 or T4S, check your ticket or travel log for confirmation.

Both are brand new state of the art terminals and very evry easy to get around!

With regards to posting the gate it is normally up at least 60 mins before departure and in my experience they start boarding 30 minutes before departure.

I know travelling can be worrying but getting around the main parts of Spain and is very easy and no different than anywhere else in Europe.

Hope that all goes well

OK, I have checked the trians and buses from Granada and I am sorry to say that I think that you miss the last ones of the day.

However as i don't know the days that you are travelling you should check for yoursel in English here:

Granada Airport Hotels.

If you can drive then that is very very easy, about 75 mins down to Malaga, good road, no traffic!

Flights from Bilbao to Paris

I am having trouble finding a budget airline who flies from Bilbao to Paris on the 8th of November. Vuelling look ok but do not appear to fly this route after the 28th of October. Would you have any suggestions?

Cheers

Not a great choice, I fly quite a lot with Iberia and they can have some very good prices, Air Europa definately have flights on those dates aswell..

http://www.aireuropa.com/

http://www.iberia.es/

This is not a high service, low budget route so you wont fidn the deals that you could get by flyting to the UK or Germany or even internal Spanish Flights.

Fly from Belfast to Stansted and get Ryanir flights to Jerez or from Belfast to Manhcester and get Monarch flights to Jerez (120 kms from Gibraltar)

hi gary.how can i and my girlfriend get from valencia airport on 9th october 2006,to calpe?any advice would be very welcome.kindest regards.geoff.

MY REPLY

Hi Geoff

Its a long way, around 135 kms, (see Map)

A lot hinges on what time you are arriving at Valencia Airport, there are two buses per day from Valencia to Denia, Denia is about 30 kms from Calpe and there should be buses all day long, if not then a €30 taxi ride from Denia to Calpe.

Here is a link where you can find the times and prices of the buses in English

I know that there is also a narrow guage railway between Denia and Calpe and the best place for that info is here

If you arrive way outside of the running times of these buses then it might be best to get a bus down to Alicante, a taxi would cost you €140! or of course hiring a cra could be a cheaper and easier option, the drive between Valencia and Calpe is very easy!

Car hire quotes here

You may also get some answers to your questions on thses forums from people who live or travel a lot to this part of Spain, try..

I even took down the times Mon – Friday leaving Denia 14.10 and leaving Airport 17.30. It all looked very convenient as my Easyjet flight will get to Valencia at 15.50.
