Alicante Airport To Polaris World

On Mon Jul 31 11:32 , 'Tonya Duck' sent:

Hi Gary,

Firstly I would like to say your website is fantastic and has a vast amount of info.

I wonder if you can help me, I am flying from Barcelona to Alicante on the 15th August and need to get to the Polaris World - Mar Menor Golf resort where my mother and father in law live. The golf resort is in Torre Pacheo and is only about 15 min drive from Murcia airport but I was unable to get a flight there.

Do you know of any way I can either get from Alicante Airport to Murcia airport (where someone can pick us up) or from Alicante airport to the golf resort. (Please note I cannot drive). Any advice you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

Kindest Regards

Tonya

I am arriving at Bilbao airport on September 3-13 and want to hire a car, but unfortunately because I have points on my licence I can't seem to be able to hire one. Do you know of anywhere in the Bilbao area that would rent me a car even with points on my licence.
Many Thanks

Hi Susan

I have checked through the T & C's of our recommended car hire broker, Car Trawler, and they don't seem to stipulate that you must have a clean liceince.

All they say is:- "Non-Roman script licences must have an International licence & their licence from country of domicile. All drivers must have held their full licence for a minimum of two years."

You can get a quote here: Bilbao Airport Car Hire

the flight to Barcelona also departs from 4S.

Thank you

Hi Andee

I am pretty siure you wouldn't need to get your baggage, it should be put directly on the next airplane, at check in in New York Ibieria will definately confirm this.

Palma Airport Buses To Magaluf

On Fri Jul 28 20:10 , 'josh cunliffe' sent:

hi gary. i am flying out to palma airport on monday. i am going to stay with
friends in magalluff. i was just wondering what public transport would be
available to myself to get between the airport and the resort. i.e busses,
trains etc. rsvp josh cunliffe
MY REPLY

Hi Josh,

Tricky one for me because I haven't actually been to Palma (yet!).

I have done some research and think that you will have to get the airport bus into Palma Bus Station and then the 106 Line from Palma to Magaluf.

I am sure there MUST be a direct bus from Palma to Magaluf but I can't find any info. I even asked a friend of mine who is a spanish public transport specialist and this is what he said...

Have to confess I am unsure on this one, EMT Mallorca is not an operator I have ever been able to fathom overmuch. As it involves a cross city transit the liklihood is there is not a direct bus line as such, but it is such an obvious destination that it is possible a coach link does exist, there would be plenty of charters of course. My advice would be to consult the information desk on arrival or (I know it is very easy for a seasoned transport eye to say) walk outside and take a close look at the stops and buses, regular public services must display a board in the windscreen with the details of the line and destination.

I hope this helps and it would be great if you could let me know how you got to Magaluf in the end so that we can help other travellers

Getting from Alicante to Cabo Roig

On Fri Jul 28 18:55 , 'sean mac eil' sent:

Hi I am travelling to Cabo roig This day week and I was wondering is there a bus service from Alicante airport to Cabo Roig, Would you know the price and how frequent do they go and are they reliable

MY REPLY
Hi Sean

I just found this information on a couple of other websites:

Location: The Alicante airport is located 48km north of Cabo Roig

Transfer to Cabo Roig: Regular buses (number C-6 ) leave every 30 minutes from the airport bus station to Alicante. From Alicante bus station there are buses to Cartagena every 2 hours. This is the bus you need for Cabo Roig.

Taxis are available outside Arrivals and cost would be around 60 Euros.

I just did a quick check with Shuttle Direct who are recommended transfer company and they have quoted €64 for the trip, you can get a quote and book online here: Shuttle Direct if you don't fancy the bus journey

Have a great trip

Flights from Belfast to Jerez

On Tue Jul 25 18:29 , 'Lisa Moore' sent:

Gary
Am trying to source flights from belfast to jerez in March 2007, whats the easiest way to go about this?
Lisa
MY REPLY

Hi Liza

Your choices are limited I am afraid, not many routes from Belfast but.....

You need to get to Manchester or Stansted or Madrid or Barcelona!

Monarch will be flying from Manchester to Jerez starting in March 2007 and tickets are on sale now.

Ryanair fly from Stansted to Jerez daily already and Iberia fly into Jerez from Madrid or Barcelona.

I believe that your best route is Easyjet from Belfast to Stansted (about 5 flights per day) and then Ryanair to Jerez.

Book direct at www.easyjet.com and www.ryanair.com

Book the tickets now and they are bound to be cheap!

Have a great trip

Getting from Valencia to Algerciras

On Tue Jul 25 8:26 , innica lane sent:

Hi Gary,
We are flying into Valencia and need to get to Algericas to get to Morrocco.
What is the cheapest simplest way to get there from Valencia airport?
Bus, Train? Were travelling with a 2 year old and all advice is welcome and appreciated!!!
Warmest wishes,
Innica Lane
MY REPLY

Hi Innica

Wow, Valencia is not the best airport to fly into for Algerciras!

You have four choices and my preference would be to drive myself but it is about 780 kms (550 miles)

Car Hire - You could hire a car at Valencia and drop it off at Algerciras, you would incur a one way charge of €25 on top of the normal fee. Get a quote here

Fly - You could get an Iberia flight from Valencia to Malaga or Seville and then take a bus to Algerciras, direct from Seville City Center - and involves a change from Malaga Airport.

Read these twp posts: Malaga to Algerciras and Seville to Algerciras

Train: Get the train from Valencia city center down to Malaga and then get a bus to Algerciras: Train info in Enlgish is here: Valencia to Malaga Trains

Bus: You can get a bus direct from Valencia City center bus station to Algerciras Port, it's about a 12 hour journey though! All timetables, booking and fares in English are here: Buses from Valencia to Algerciras

I hope that the trip goes well and that this information makes choosing the right route easier!

It would be interesting to hear from you after you had made the journey to find out what it was like, that way if we ever get asked the question again we can pass on your story

Benicassim to Valencia

Hi Gary

Wonder if you can help. My daughter and a friend have to make a flight back to Manchester from Alicante at 11.00am tomorrow – Tuesday 25th July. They have queued to get a train ticket from Benicassim via Valencia, but they are sold out! Any suggestions? Is there a coach that does that route? Or can they go from another station (Costello has been mentioned). Any help much appreciated.

MY REPLY

Hi Sarah

I have just got back and checked my email, I may be a little late but I found this page about buses down to Valencia from Benicassim which might be interesting..

http://fiberfib.com/www/bot.php?sec=2&bot=10&sub=3&lan=en

I would imagine that the train would pass through the other station on it's way and so would therefore still be full.

I reckon a taxi would be about €100-120 (70-80 pounds)

Hope this helps and she gets home safely

Smoking at Tenerife Airport

On Mon Jul 24 14:21 , 'Booth Jenna' sent:

Hi

I was recently travelling through Tenerife South Airport and was completely astonished that there was no smoking at the airport. I understand new European legislation about creating a healthier environment for non-smokers but for this airport not to even have a designated area was completely absurd..

My departing airport of Manchester which is much bigger and much more commercial, has a separate section for smokers and this works well. At Tenerife the toilets were disgusting because of smokers using them, at least Manchester doesn't have this problem and has done things as not to offend any passenger.

I hope that I am not the only person to complain this summer and that eventually under duress the airport authority will put in place restricted smoking sections.

Many thanks
MY REPLY

Hi Jenna

I would email the airport authority here: infotfs@aena.es here.

The more people that complain the better it will be!!!

It's strange that Spain have gone from one extreme to the other on the smoking front!

Last year people smoked everywhere and it was digusting, no they are huddled in the toilets!!

In my local airport Malaga, there are special areas for smokers so we don't have the toilet problem but at our local Department store, a very up market "El Corte Ingles" in Puerto Banus all the staff smoke in the toilets!

The think we are mad when we complain!

Thanks for bringing up your point

Valencia Airport to Moraira

Hello there

I got your email address from the web site and looking for some information.

A group of us are flying into Valencia Airport in September and we need to get to Moiraira, would you be able to let me know the cost of a taxi for this journey, there would be 4 or 5 of us.

Thank you for your help.

Kind Regards

Natasha

My Reply

Hi Natasha

We recoomend a company called Shuttle Direct for all transfers from Valencia, in our experience they work out at a cheaper rate than the normal taxis.

I just checked and their rates are about €214 for a one way transfer for ll five of you.

Although this sounds a lot the journey is about 140 kms and a normal airport taxi would work out at about €1 per km AND you would need two taxis as there are five of you.

Shuttle Direct would be able to transfer you in one People Carrier.

For booking and quotes etc go direct to the Shuttle Direct website

I hope that this helps

Hi Sally

Just realized we didnt put the parking info on the Bilbao Airport page, apologies...

the rates are as follows...

First half hour or less, €0.50; second half hour or less, €0.70; all or part of each additional hour, €1.20; daily maximum up to 4 days, €12.00; daily maximum from the fifth day, €9.60. Lost ticket: €60

There is also an express car park (only 37 spaces though!) if you are just going there to drop someone off or pick someone up...

Special rates (for vehicles to be parked for more than half an hour, the general car park is recommended). First half hour, 1.20 €; extra half hours, 1.80 €.

I don't know of any long term car parks (off airport) like we have in the UK

For other airlines Air Italia / Iberia it would be best to fly into Barcelona (or Madrid) and change.

ALPI EAGLES SPA
Compañía AIR NOSTRUM
Compañía IBERIA

And these four direct from Roma (Fiumicino) to Barcelona
ALITALIA

I would say the journey will take about 4 hours and 30 mins.

Weather in March can be a bit hit and miss, it is when it starts to get warmer (20c) but March can also be a wet month.

If the sun is out it will be warm enough to sit outside and sunbathe, sea and unheated pools might be a bit cold.

Hi Julian

I have checked the various airlines and the latest Iberia flight on the sunday is at 21.20, there are not even any VERY late flights to Malaga or Granada.

On Monday mornign the earliest flight direct o to Almeria from Madrid is 0855 (landing at 1020), there is an earlier flight to Malaga that lands in Malaga at 0900 but them it would takle 3 hours to get to Almeria! It's the same thing with Madrid to Granada but Granada is still 2 hours from Almeria.

Looks like you will have to move your appointment to 1045 / 1100 OR travel through the night by train. (driving would be touch and go!)
