Disabled Facilities at Lanzarote Airport

On Thu Nov 2 13:56 , 'Hazel Budd' sent:

Hi Gary - We are going to Lanzarote for Christmas and I would like to know the distance from the plane arrival point to baggage reclaim. We recently went to Malaga Airport and I found it really exhausting walking from the plane to baggage reclaim - I am 76 and would have used one of the transport buggies had I known it was so far. (None of the automatic walkways were working on that day) Are there transport buggies or busses at Lanzarote? Many thanks for your time.

Hi Hazel

I have been to many of the airports and so can normally give you "first hand" advice. Malaga for example is my home airport and I would have told you 100% to get on the buggy!

Unfortunately Lanzarote is one of those airports that I have yet to personally visit. What I can say is this.....

At ll the airports that I have travelled to and through in Spain there is always someone on hand with a buggy or bus waiting to take older or disabled passengers to the luggage area.

I am keen to get this kind of information for less abled passengers on to our website but written by people who have used the facilties. So if you could write to me after you have travelled it would help other travellers with the same questions.

You could also try posting your question on this forum I am sure that someone there will know!

Good luck Hazel and sorry I can't help and further at this stage.

Regards

Gary

I am a wheelchair user. I went through this airport in January 06.
On the outward bound flight, I was left starnded at the airport enterance, for half an hour, It was left to my family to go and source a wheelchair, which was well used and ricety (no brakes). The only time we had any assistance was going from the terminal to the seat, on the plane.
But, please, dont let a small incident, detract you from a wonderful holiday, just inform as many people you can, about your needs...Alan
