Santander Airport to Bilbao

My parents are flying to Santander in a couple of weeks and going to stay in the centre of Bilbao. What is the best way to get there from the airport?

If they were to get a taxi would it cost a fortune? if so how much. My mother is very mobile but my father isn't he is 80.

Hi Corinne

They have options....

1) The easiest but most expensive would be a taxi, I would estimate this to be around €100 each way though as it is about a 95km journey, You could contact someone like Holiday Taxis.co.uk and arrange a private driver but this would be even more. (http://www.holidaytaxis.co.uk/about/contact.php)

2) The buses......there are direct buses about 5 times per day between Santander Airport and Bilbao, cost about €6-€8 and take about 1 hour and 5 minutes. More information in English here (http://www2.alsa.es/portal/index.asp?lang=en)

3) Least favourable option would be a train BUT they would need to taxi into the train station first and then get the train, more information about trains in English here. (http://horarios.renfe.es/hir/ingles.html)

It would be great to hear back from them after their journey to find out how they got on, which route they took, how long it took etc. This would then help us answer other similar questions much better in the future.
