Madrid Airport T4 Transits

Hi, Gary, I am arriving at Terminal 4 S on 17th September and am aware that there have been some changes.
I believe I have to first collect luggage, then go on mechanized train to Terminal 4, then go out to get bus, i.e. down a level. Then bus takes me to Terminal 1, I think the old terminal, where I find, eventually the Metro.
I did the trip with Iberia in Spring and had no luggage to collect so I guess it is similar except for that. I am not sure was it terminal 4 or 4S though.
Perhaps you might confirm for me if this is correct.

Hi Maureen
As far as I am aware you can get a bus straight from T4S (ground floor) to T1, but as always I could be mistaken!
I havent done T4S to T1, but maybe when you went there in the spring it had only just opened and wasn't fully operational.
Here is a link that shows all the transit routes according to the Spanish Airport Authority

If I am wrong on this do let me know so i can help the next traveller
Have a good trip

Gary

I am flying from USA to Madrid on Iberian airlines (and then connecting to Palma De Mallorca). I arrive at Terminal 4S and must go to Terminal 4 for connection to Palma.
Can anyone help explain to me the procedure for this? Do I have to go through customs and passport control in terminal 4S before I can go to Terminal 4? How do I get from Terminal 4S to Terminal 4? I do not see a direct shuttle.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Pat
I forgot to ask..
Again, on October 10th, 2007, I am flying Iberian IB6252 from JFK to Madrid and will arrive at Terminal 4S. I am connecting to Palm De Mallorca at Termina 4. My layover time is 1 hour and 35 minutes.
1. In your opinion, is this enough time?
2. When I get off the plane in Terminal 4S, do I proceed directly to Customs (in Terminal 4S), or do I proceed to the automatic train? For USA arrivals, is Customs in 4S or 4? What is my next step after getting off the plane in 4S?
Thanks again,
Pat
