Lost Baggage Alicante Airport

On Sun Sep 3 22:18 ,
Hi Gary,
We returned from Alicante on Sat 2nd Sept. Unfortunately only 1 out of 3
suitcases returned with us. We were flying with Thomsonfly. About 10 other
people were effected. We can only assume that there is a crate of luggage
sittiing at Alicante airport somewhere or been flown elsewhere in error.
Is there anyone we can contact at Alicante to help track luggage. Servisair
are the agents for tracking luggage for Thomson at Gatwick, but they don't
seem perticularly bothered to help. We are a family of 5 and these missing
bags have a big impact on us. We are insured but would not get back the purchase
value for items lost. As l don't speak any Spanish do you have an English
contact at Alicante that could help? Do you know if missing luggage from
Alicante is a common event?

MY REPLY

Hi Ann

Thats a real pain

Lost luggage is a lot more common than people think and my experience is that it generally turns up a couple of days after travelling, it's happened to me 3 times and the bags normally come about 2/3 days after travelling.

Really the onus is down to Sevisair at Gatwick, I would also get hold of Thomsonfly and tell then about Servisairs lack of cooperation. Thomsonfly might be able to apply some pressure.

I couldnt think which number to give you for Alicante Airport because lost luggage ONLY really covers lost luggage coming in!

I think the best number to give you is the Spanish Airport Authoirty Helpline who have an English Speaking department and should be able put you in touch with the right people at Alicante.

Tele: 0034 902 404 704

I would also sit tight and relax a little (difficult I know!) until Tuesday, I am sure your lugggage will turn up.

Can you also let us know what happens, this kind of information is the stuff we want on the message board so that other travellers know what to do and expect when luggage goes missing from Alicante.

I really hope it turns up soon and hope I have been of soem help

Regards

Gary

Hi Gary,

Good news. Our luggage turned up on the door step last night. The luggage
was traced back to Alicante on Sunday and flown over Monday. Gatwick then
took a couple of day's to process it. Unfortunately the bagagge handlers
Servisair did not keep us informed as stated but it is good to have it all
back in one peace. I will not complain about washing and ironing again -
not for a while anyway. Thanks for the support.

Hi

I came back yesterday from Alicante in GAtwick and the same thing has happened to me to add to insult it was a tiny piece of luggage which would have fit in any small gap. They have told me that it will hopefully turn up in a few days. Can you both tell me if any of your luggage actually had name and address tags on them on the exterior? Mine didn't and I'm worried that this will give me a disadvantage...

Cheers Vic
