Disabled travellers advice for Malaga Airport
Hi Gary
Nice to hear from you, and yes I will give you details of how to go about the arrival at Malaga for disabled.
As I stated I booked with easy jet, their web site after choosing flights gives one the option on the next page of certain disabilities, tick the box according to your own disabilities and how much help you require. That was picked up at East Midlands AT CHECK IN DESK,then should be copied through to the gate.Unless you have your own wheelchair there are very few to be found in the airport. If it follows thro to the gate a wheelchair should be waiting at the gate to take one to the disability bus that has a lift and escorts one onto to the plane.
If the info is carried thro to the plane the cabin crew save the first rows for the disabled, this was not the case in one instance for me when the system failed to report it through.
On arriving at Malaga, tunnels are fitted to the cabin door,at the end of these tunnels awaits buggy cars that can transfer four people to the baggage claim, the drivers takes your passports and he checks them at security, its a terribly long walk thro Malaga airport to baggage claim but these buggies drive you thro to the top of an escalator. At the foot of the escalator is the baggage claim.
After the holidays on return to Malaga, check in, acknowledges the disability on the ticket information and asks if you can manage the distance thro security.I was informed that after security I was to make my way straight forward to the disability desk, where I would be met by a buggy to take me to gate. The staff at Malaga airport at disability desk were spot on ,a few minutes wait for one to return and I was escorted thro passport check and onto gate.Tell the cabin crew on arrival at gate of your needs and proof on ticket.
I hope this has been helpful Gary, and good luck with the site.
Best Wishes
BRENDA BROWN
