Hello Gary,
we are honeymooning in Riviera del sol, Mijas costa, how would you suggest
we get there from jerez airport? we didn't realise it was so far away and
were hoping to get a taxi, it'd cost 150 euros !
we don't drive !
many thanks, Claire.
MY REPLYHi Claire
Wow thats a bit of a pain!!! Ia ssume your flying Ryanair from Stansted?
BAD NEWS FIRST!
Ok my best advice is to either cancel the flights or move them to another trip or move them to Granada where it is still a pain BUT easier to get down to Malaga and onto Mijas, then just book new tickets (Ryanair dont fly to Malaga) but try easyjet (from Stansted) and have a very easy transfer to Riviera. (€30 taxi ride)
OR
Accept that the transfer will be an adventure in itself and fly into Jerez!
OK here goes.....
The easiets way is to get a bus / taxi into Jerez Train station (€20 taxi) and then get a train from Jerez to Malaga, you will need to change in Seville but should be easy enough, the trains will cost about €16-€20 and the whole journey should be about 4 hours. Once at Malaga get the train to Fuengirola (every 15 mins and cheap) then get a taxi to Riviera (€15)
The train website in English is here and If i were you I would call them to confirm times etc, they have an International number on the website but dont forget to add 0034 in front!
Or
Call this english guy who lives in Riviera and ask him how much he would charge for a pick up in Jerez, tell him you came via me and I am sure he will do the best price possible but €150 would be about right!
Call Bedford on: 0034 932 939 583 or 0034 697 442 339
OR
You need to get the bus or a taxi into Jerez Bus Station and then a bus to Marbella, I am not too sure if after it leaves Marbella it goes past Riviera on its way to Malaga (ask the driver!) butThere is only one bus per day between Jerez and Marbella: It leaves Jerez at 1530 in the afternoon and takes about 4 hours once at Marbella Bus Station you need to get the bus from Marbella to Fuengirola and get off at Riviera OR get a taxi from Marbella to riviera which will be about €30.
Failing that you need to get a bus from the Airport to Cadiz where there are 3 buses to Marbella / Malaga per day
0900 / 1500 / 2000
and the same advice as above.
I hope this all works out for you and for me the train sounds like fun and the best, cheapest option, if you arrive late a night in Seville is also a serious GREAT alternative and will add something extra to your honeymoon!
Regards
Gary

Hi Gary,
thank you so much for your advice, as I am pregnant and don't want to faff
around from one bus to another or train etc, we're going with the expensive
taxi option !
I will certainly do my homework before my next holiday !
thanks again, Claire.
