Jerez Airport to Tarifa

Hi Gary

What is the shortest and cheapest way to get to Tarifa; from Jerez or
Malaga?
On a previous question yuo said that the bus from Jerez to Tarifa leaves
from the center of town, how long time should I count with? and when does
the last bus leaves to Tarifa?
Is Tarifa and Algeciras the same place, or how far away are they?

Thanks for your help!

Hi Pernille

Jerez is definately closer to Tarifa than Malaga and it's easier to get to Tarifa from Jerez. MAP

You will need to get into the Jerez Bus Station (taxi / Airport bus) to get the buses down to Algerciras / Tarifa and according to my research the last one leaves at about 2145. heres a link for the bus company that I know of: http://www.linesur.com/linesur/Horarios.html

You may need to change at Algerciras for a bus to Tarifa, there is about 6 kms between them.

Depending on whether you drive or not you may find it easier to just hire a car and drive, it's about a 60 min drive.

If you do this trip can you let us know how it went and what route you took. Ryanair (and Monarch next year) are going to make this a busy route and once everyone realizes how great Tarifa is the floodgates will open! Your advice I am sure will come in handy!

Cheers and good luck

Gary

You WILL need to change if you have come down the motorway through Los
Barrios.
The last Algeciras bus to Tarifa is about 9:30 pm . . . . and . . .
There is more like 26 Km between Algeciras and Tarifa over mountains - - -
allow 20-25 minutes.

The bus stop in Tarifa is on the edge of town - - - allow 10-15 minutes walk
into the center and in some cases longer for finding your accomodation.
There are taxis - but they are ALL in the centre of town by Puerto de Jerez.
Get a friend to pick you up at the bus stop.

An alternate route from Jerez - - -> to Cadiz and down the coast direct to
Tarifa. Costs less and possibly quicker (depending on the cross-over times).
There are more buses to Cadiz from Jerez and the Cadiz -> Tarifa run is
quite frequent and runs late . . . ultimately it is a timetable thing.

Thanks for your attention

Another consideration is to use Gibraltar airport. It is quick and easy.

The car hire (Crown & Avis) is across the boarder in the first underground carpark. Walk straight ahead about 150 meters and it is on the left. The office is at the base of the ramp on the left. I recommend using CarJet or Arrow
Car Hire
,
for the hiring as they use Crown cars at about half the cost.

The bus station in La Linea is not much further - instead of going down to the car park, take the road on the left that goes by it and the station is just on the right.

There are taxis just outside the boarder on the right.

The journey time to Tarifa is about 45 minutes on the N-340 (heading south)
