Hi Jimbo

Apologies for this daft question but I assume you really do mean BARCELONA and not Reus (which Ryanair call Reus Barcelona!).

If it is Barcelona then you have a fair old distance to cover, about 100kms. Below is detailed information of your options and after you get to Tarragona Bus Station you need to get a bus to Salou which is easy enough....

I took this info from here and couldn't have put it better myself!

Basically you can take either a direct bus from Barcelona airport to Tarragona, or a train from Barcelona airport to Barcelona-Sants and then from there to Tarragona.

Our recommendation is in favour of the first alternative, but your decision will crucially depend on the bus schedule, which is rather poor (5 buses a day, departing from a station in between terminals A and B). The price: 10.65 euros one-way.

After 1 hour, the bus will leave you at the main bus station in Tarragona, which is located at Imperial Tarraco square.

Regarding the train (http://www.renfe.es), in the Barcelona airport there is a railway station, at the end of a long corridor having a red roof. You should purchase there a ticket to Tarragona (price: around 6 euros one-way). You will take the train departing every half an hour until Barcelona-Sants (third stop: 20 minutes).

There, you have to take the train to Tarragona by moving to platform 5 (please check). Notice that the last train departs at 21:30 appr. You have to take a train called either Catalunya Express or Regional Express or Regional (regional trains), not a long-distance train, which is far more expensive but not faster. Regional trains depart every half an hour or every hour, depending on the time of the day (likely, at H.03 or H.33).

The final destinations may be Tortosa, Mora d'Ebre, Reus, Valencia, Zaragoza. The trip takes one hour almost exactly. In most cases, Tarragona is the fourth stop, but in some cases may be either the third one or the fifth one. You will identify it (provided the sun still shines) because it is the first stop from where you can see the Mediterranean sea.

I hope this helps and that you have a great time, if it is Reus you fly into let me know and I will point you in the right direction.

Regards

Gary

Hi Gary,
I'm in the same situation regarding transfers from barcelona to salou. And to add to that I arrive with 2 children at 21:30. When all sensibly priced transport seems to stop running. I've searched for low cost transfers and the only option seems to be taxi at over £150, ridiculous!
Please help, this is my holiday to spain and I want to make it a good experience for the children.

Hi I have done some more research and although this seems complicated it's quite straight forward. Before You travel I would call the train company and check the times and prices for your dates: 0034 902 24 34 02.

1) You need to get the RENFE train from the airport to Barcelona Sants train station Timetables here. about 20 mins

2) you should then be able to get the 2300 train down to Tarragona Timetables, If you click on the COSTA BRAVA train at 2300 it will tell you the stops it makes, just 2 stops to Tarragona, you get in at 0010.

Then you need to get a taxi to Salou!

Good luck and I hope that it works out for you. Let us know how you get on....

Hey Gary,

what you have said to these people already concerning transport from Barcelona to Salou has been quite helpful. However, although I will be able to get to Barcelona Sants problem free using the airport train service, I am worried I might miss the last train to Tarragona at 22:30. My flight gets in at 8:50. Can you help at all. Is there a later service? Or should I have enough time?

What are Trenhotel trains like? Can I get one a short distance? It seems to be the last train to Tarragona from Barcelna Sants departing at 22:30. I will need this amount of time to get from the airport to the station befre going to Tarregona.

Thanks

Hi Gary - quite a service you're running here. My family and I are coming into Barcelona (not Reus) Airport on Friday the 24 around noon. We need to get to Salou and I can see from your suggestions that either a direct bus to Tarragona or a train to Barca-Sants followed by a train to Tarragona are the options.

But what is the best way from Tarragona into Salou itself? We have two kids - 4 and 1?

Thanks
