Hi
I have a sort of complaint, we flew to the uk on the sunday 13th returned on
the 21st may
we heard that parking was free, we checked the web site yes it was free but
it said to phone
to make sure we did and yes they said it was free, great.
when we returned and went to leave nope cant have to pay! 55.00 euros! asked
the man where the machine was and as much as i could understand, he said it
wasnt free.
I have just phoned the airport and due to my lack of understanding all they
said was we could complain to someone, couldent make out who, so was
wondering if at all possible if you could explain this for me, please.
thanks, sarah

Hi Sarah

Sorry to hear about your problem.

One of the reasons we set up Spanish Airport Guide was because of the lack of "real" information about travelling through the airports here.

Most, if not all the airports in Spain are changing over to paid parking and Murcia Airport is one that I havent visited for some time. (I was at Girona the other month and they have just stopped the free parking.)

Even when I check the Official Spanish Airport Authority Website it is still saying that parking is free!

www.aena.es

I have added your point to our message board in the hope that someone else can provide us with better info and we in turn can pass this on to other visitors. I will also try and call the airport in the morning and see if they can give me some idea of whats happening.

The official place to complain is aeropuertomjv@aena.es

Perhaps you can let us know how you get on and thanks for the feedback

Regards

Gary Ingram

PS: I will also change the main parking information for Murcia Airport warning people to expect to pay.

Hi Gary,
The airport website still says public parking is free at San Javier, and I called the number for information for information which was on your website, and the woman checked up and confirmed its still 'gratuita'.
I am about to fly out of there and intended leaving my car for maybe 3 to 4 weeks, but you state a charge of 6 Euros a day, and that would make me change my mind.
Whose information is correct? I don't want to arrive there and find it is going to cost me 6 euros a day.
Good website, good luck.

Hi Sue

The information we have of the main website comes from this post and email that was sent to us.

http://www.spanish-airport-guide.com/2006/05/parking-charges-at-murcia-airport.html

I would love to say that the girl at the airport was 100% correct and it is free but I can't believe people would write into our website to say otherwise! Did you ask if the parking was free or that you wanted to leave your car for 3 weeks in the parking. You see it may be free to drop someone off but NOT to leave your car there and the Spanish will often only answer one part of the question.

Most airports in Spain have changed over from Free parking to paid parking and I can't believe Murcia is any different

Anyway if the information or the reality is different from what we have on our site can you lets us know, I am planning to go to Murcia, Alicante and Valencia very shortly so that I can update the pages.

Hope that you have a good trip

Regards

Gary

Dear Gary,
thanks for your reply to my earlier email regarding parking at Murcia.

I can confirm that the parking is no longer free, and charges of over between
6 and 7 euros a day are in place, depending on how long you will be staying.

They need to get their website up to date.

Regards,
Susan Paterson.

Hi gary, going to be leaving my car at murcia airport next week, and I noticed that there are two car parks there. The first one is as you come into the airport, the second one is just past the terminal, my question is, can you leave your car at either and is there any difference on costs, dont want too leave at wrong one and get a huge bill!! thanks Rod

I think the car park beyond the terminal building may be for hire cars, but I'm not sure that is exclusively!

September 2007 I was required to take a ticket at the barrier to enter in order to park my hire car where I found it. Not certain.

Try asking one of the hire firms on airport. Centauro, Gold Car...
