Showers at Madrid Airport
I just got this question in and I am unable to help.
Has anyone else got any information?
Hi Gary,
i have a question about Madrid airport that may or may not be in your domain. i have checked the Website for spanish airports and not found an answer to my question which is (and it is a bit of a strange one!) are there facilities to shower at the airport?
it's just that i am flying back home from Lima to England, and think it would be nice to freshen up properly before i meet all my friends and family having not seem them for nearly 10mths. (i have of course washed in the meantime!)
If you are able to advise, i would be really grateful.
Kind Regards

My Reply...
Hi Ruth
I honestly dont know if there are shower facilities at Madrid Airport, I will make a point of looking next time I am there!
The new terminal 4 building (which I havent been to you yet) has a huge number of facilities including a leisure area where you can get massages etc, so they may have showers.
The best thing to do is call the aiport information desk on (0034) 913 936 000
I will also place this on my blog and ask for help, if I get a reply I will let you know
Apologies for the delay in coming back to you but I have been away for 4 days myself.

Hi Gary,
i am now home! but thanks for the reply anyway.
i couldnt see any showers, and the taps only dispensed freezing cold water!
Madrid airport is lovely and new as you know, but i thought a couple of
things clearly hadnt been thought through.
i think it is a bit silly to have 'designated smoking areas' that are
nothing more than a glass screen where the smoke easily intermingles with
the rest of the atmosphere. sometimes you have no choice but to sit near
the smoking zone as the 'gate' fills up.
also, they have alphabetic 'zones' which take some minutes to reach. they
seemed to frequently change the gate for departure, but there were no
screens to check with, except at the beginning of a zone, which could be a
good distance from the gate you have initially been told to go to. this
makes it very hard to keep up with information.
it just seemed a pity that it looked so lovely, but lacked simple thinking
on some things.
i know this may be of no interest to you, but i feel better for saying it!
kind regards
Ruth White
PS hope you had a good time away.
