Road Improvements for Murcia Airport

"A big new road project is the planned link between the A7-E15 north-south motorway at Santomera and San Javier, which, amongst other things, is the site of Murcia's increasingly busy airport. More and more airlines are heading to the airport and over a million passengers have passed through this year.

The Santomera-San Javier road is in the final stages of negotiation between national and regional governments. It is planned to be 40 kilometres long and the cost will be about 210 million euros. A key element of the project is the construction of a four-kilometre long viaduct in the area of El Raal.

All the road building is being carried out as part of the Murcia regional infrastructure plan for the period 2005 to 2020."
